The Story of Hem SoS ![]()
Magic &
BeautyMystery & Danger

My name is Hem
SoS of the Klingon (tlhIngan) family q'nIqolS (K'nichols) and the Human
(tera'ngan) family Combs. I am sometimes called by the tera'ngan name Jennifer.
My mother is a tera'gnan and my father was a tlhIngan warrior in the marines of
KAG. That makes me the best of both worlds -- half tlhIngan, half tera'gnan!
My mother
served as a stewardess on the Earth to Mars to the Neptune Space Station
shuttle for many years prior to her retiring back in Texas on Earth. During one
such trip, on her lunch break, she happened to notice a young Klingon marine
warrior and thought she'd go over to him and say hi. As she approached, she
noticed he was eating his meal, she wanted to sit beside him -- but noticed
there was food all over him and the seat . . . he was eating ghargh (live
serpent worms). She cleared her throat, which sounded somewhat like a growl,
and he stopped eating and looked up slowly. He smiled and raked the food off
the seat beside him and motioned to her to sit. She sat, he saw her as a very beautiful
woman, for a human, and growled softly back. Their eyes met, they fell madly in
love. He explained he was on a officer exchange program between the Klingon
Empire and the Federation and would only be visiting Earth for a few short
weeks. She took some time off and they "saw" each other every night
during his visit and were soon married while on earth, in Houston, Texas just
prior to his returning to the KAG fleet.
My mother gave
birth nine months later to a handsome baby boy -- my older brother. Then on a
brief visit three years later my mother was once again with child and gave
birth to a beautiful baby girl -- me. I was born in Houston, Texas on earth. My
mother continued her career as a stewardess during my growing up and left me
with a group of her friends who were mystics and practiced the magical arts.

My father
served with honor in the Dark Moon Fleet in the Klingon Assault Group. I never
saw much of him and was saddened when I learned of his demise at some battle
called QI'tomer.
When I came of
age, I got a job on the Neptune Space Station, on the route of the shuttle
where my parents fell in love. While there I was offered an opportunity to join
a science team aboard a deep space probe to investigate a new planet near the
neutral zone. I jumped at the change and ignored my mystic trained senses that
were tingling with danger, I figured it was just excitement.
The probe went
into orbit at the new planet and we, the crew, were awakened from hyper-sleep
automatically by the on board computer. We immediately went about our business
of scanning the planet when my mystic senses began to tingle again. Then, it
happened. We were under attack by a Romulan bird of prey. The Captain got off a
distress signal just before our ship entered the thin atmosphere and crashed.
There were twelve of us, all unarmed when the Romulans beamed down to either
capture or kill us. My mystic senses were really tingling now . . . then, there
was a strange, although brief, warmth pass through me, as if I knew I would
survive this ordeal.
There was a
brilliant flash of light in the dimly lit sky. Later, I learned it was the
destruction of the Romulan bird of prey by the IKV Fek'lhr's Fury -- the
Flagship of the Dark Moon Fleet, where my father once served. Then there were
the Klingons beaming down to save us from the Romulans, it was probably where
that warm feeling came from, but now it was gone and the apprehension returned.
Romulans and Klingons were running all about and fighting one another, it was
glorious. I was trapped behind a damaged console, unable to join the fight,
when my senses went crazy with concerns of danger. I turned to see a Romulan
with a dagger raised over my head about to end my existence, I closed my eyes
and heard that terrible sound of the blade piercing flesh. I felt no pain,
strange, so I opened my eyes to see the Romulan still standing there holding
the dagger, then blood trickled from his mouth and he fell away revealing a
Klingon warrior holding a bloody batlh'etlh. I never learned if Klingons
believed in angels or not, but this warrior was surely my angel. His name was
QatanI', son of K'taygor, and he was a Lieutenant in KAG's naval forces. As he
stood there, our eyes met and we growled while smiling at one other. He was my
hero, so naturally, I fell in love with him and . . . he fell in love with me.

Today he is Captain
QatanI' sutai-DevnoH, Dark Phoenix Quadrant Commander and House Proctor of
House DevnoH. He has left the Fury and
accepted assignment as C.O. of the Saman qo', and I am Lt. Hem SoS
vestai-DevnoH, his mate. We were married and we both serve with glory in the
Empire in KAG's navy.
